When browsing through both artist’s images I tried to pick an image that was different and could be used for an upcoming holiday. Oddball art has a lot of great images that could be used to create Halloween cards. When I came across Creepy Cute Science, I instantly wanted to make a Halloween card and had every intention too however I went a different route instead with it. With limited time to create this month and my 19-year wedding anniversary I decide to turn my image into an anniversary.
To create this image, I started out by printing the images on Canson mixed media paper then coloring it with Copic markers. Setting the colored image to the side to dry I then started on my background. To create the background, I used Gina K’s neon inks. Blending blue & Green on a piece of 5×7 heavy card stock. Once I had the blue and green how I wanted them I used my heat gun to set the ink. Next, I used a stencil and Distressed Oxide ink I stenciled over my background. To add the sentiment, I used a set of alphabet stamps and stamped out the words.
To assemble my card, I cut down my created background to 5×3.75” plus two extra heavy stock pieces of paper the same size. I then glued the three layers together to create the top layer of my card. The next layer down is a 5.25×4” white heavy stock that I took and traced the edges with Copic markers. Half with green and half with blue. For my base layer I traced around the outside with a black Copic maker, then glued all three layers together. For the final step I cut out my focus image and glued it to the top.
